Vida Beach Resort Umm Al Quwain

Overview

Vida Beach Resort Umm Al Quwain is Emaar's first Vida-branded resort outside Dubai, opened directly on the Arabian Gulf coast in UAQ. It suits Dubai and Sharjah families who want a proper beach weekend without driving all the way to Ras Al Khaimah, and couples after a quieter, design-led stay rather than a big five-star spectacle.

The beach is real sand, calm and shallow, with a separate kids' pool and splash zone plus an outdoor kids' club (Qix) for four-to-twelves, so parents get pool time too. There's an infinity pool, a spa, a tennis court, free bikes and water sports on offer, and the whole place has a low-key, boutique feel rather than a resort-town buzz — good for a proper switch-off Friday-to-Sunday.

Dining is compact — a handful of venues rather than a dozen — so if you're the type who wants a different restaurant every night, temper expectations; it's built for relaxing rather than eating your way round. UAQ itself is still quiet compared with RAK, which is the appeal, but it also means less to do off-property. Summer sun is intense by midday so plan beach time for morning or late afternoon.

Eating and drinking

  • Origins — The resort's main all-day restaurant, with sea views and both indoor and terrace seating. Buffet breakfast, lunch and dinner with a wholesome, internationally-minded menu, halal, vegan and gluten-free options available, and genuinely family-friendly seating and pacing.
  • Stage2 — The lobby lounge, open all day for coffee, light bites and bar snacks. Easy to drop into after check-in or before dinner, low-key rather than a full sit-down meal, and comfortable with children passing through.
  • Pool Bar (Pool Lounge) — A casual bar right on the infinity pool deck, serving lunch and dinner bites through the afternoon and evening. Good for a poolside lunch with the kids still in the water, rather than a proper dinner out.
  • SoCal — The resort's rooftop bar with a Southern Californian feel, geared towards evenings and drinks rather than family dining. Worth checking current opening status directly with the hotel before planning an evening around it, as availability can vary.

Getting there

It's a straightforward drive up the coast road from Dubai, roughly an hour depending on where you start and traffic through Sharjah, with the resort sitting just off the main beach road on the edge of UAQ town. Sharjah International Airport is the closer airport at around 29km; Dubai International is about 57km. There's free on-site parking, so a self-drive weekend makes more sense than booking a transfer for most Dubai-based families.
