Overview
Jumeirah Beach Hotel is Dubai's original big family beach resort, built in 1997 in the shape of a breaking wave right next to Wild Wadi Waterpark and a short walk from Burj Al Arab. With around 600 rooms, suites and villas, it suits parents who want a proper beach, unlimited waterpark trips and a kids club rather than a boutique or adults-only stay.
Expect a genuine sandy private beach, five pools, a spa and a kids club that will occupy the under-12s for hours while teenagers get their own space. The link to Wild Wadi means you can walk from your room straight into the waterpark without paying again, which is the real reason parents keep coming back for a weekend. Public areas get busy with families on Friday and Saturday nights.
This is not the hotel for a quiet couples' break - book an Ocean Deluxe room facing the sea and expect the kids' buffet to have a queue in peak season. Summer heat means the beach only really works early morning or evening, though the waterpark and pools carry the day; winter (roughly November to March) is when the outdoor space earns its keep. Parts of the property are decades old, so it's worth checking which rooms or villas have been most recently refreshed when booking.

Eating and drinking
- Bastion — A French brasserie with views towards the Burj Al Arab, serving classics like escargots and lobster thermidor. Leans towards a smarter dinner rather than a children's night out, though families are welcome.
- Fika — Italian food covering pastas, pizzas and risottos in a relaxed setting. Easy-going enough for children, with dishes simple enough to please fussy eaters alongside more grown-up plates.
- Kitchen Connect — An international all-day dining restaurant (recently revamped from its former name, Latitude), covering breakfast through to dinner with broad, family-friendly menus. A reliable option when the table has very different tastes to please.
- Dhow and Anchor — A long-running British pub serving traditional classics, popular for a casual dinner or catching a match. Well suited to families who want something familiar after a day at the pool.
- Floor 24 — A rooftop bar with skyline and sea views and a laid-back vibe, serving light bites and cocktails. Guests must be 21 or over, so this one is for the evening once the children are settled.
- Verde Beach — A beachside Mediterranean restaurant with a festive, daytime feel, good for lunch with sand still on your feet. Works well for a relaxed family meal between beach and pool sessions.
- Nuska Beach — Middle Eastern and Mediterranean beachside dining with Wagyu burgers, seafood rice stew and lamb. Casual enough for children, with a proper sea view to go with it.
- Pearl Lounge — A lounge known for its afternoon tea, with scones, sandwiches and a good tea selection in a stylish setting. A pleasant, calmer break from the pool for parents rather than a children's venue.
Getting there
It's roughly a 20-25 minute drive from Dubai Marina or Downtown Dubai depending on traffic, and about 20 minutes from Dubai International Airport. Both valet and self-parking are available on site, and given the location just off Jumeirah Beach Road, most UAE residents will find this an easy self-drive rather than needing to book a transfer.
