Overview
Fairmont The Palm sits on the trunk of Palm Jumeirah, on the West Beach side, and it has been one of Dubai's steadier family resorts since it opened in 2012. It suits parents who want a proper beach day sorted without much planning, and grandparents-in-tow trips where everyone needs a lounger nearby.
The beach is real sand, about 800 metres of it, backed by four temperature-controlled pools including an adults-only one for when you need ten minutes to yourself. The Fairmont Falcons Kids Club runs daily with a splash pad and climbing wall, and most families settle into a rhythm of beach club mornings, a couple of hours in the club, then dinner at one of the on-site restaurants. Service is warm rather than slick, and the Arabian-style public areas feel more classic resort than boutique-hip.
There's no waterpark on site, so if your children are chasing slides and wave pools, look elsewhere on the Palm. Summer (June to August) is genuinely hot, and pool and beach time compresses into early morning and evening, so it suits winter weekends better if outdoor time matters to you. Complimentary kids club access is usually capped at a couple of hours a day, so factor in extra spend if you want longer.

Eating and drinking
- Frevo — A Brazilian churrascaria where cuts of meat are carved tableside, alongside a salad bar and classic caipirinhas. Lively and sociable, it works well for families with older children who'll enjoy the theatre of it, best kept to dinner.
- Boldly Asian — Pan-Asian dishes drawing on Chinese, Japanese, Taiwanese and Korean street food, served in a striking, colourful setting. Casual enough for a family dinner early evening, though it leans livelier and more adult later on with its weekend brunch.
- Flow Kitchen — The all-day international restaurant overlooking the beach, covering breakfast buffets through to a globally inspired dinner menu with rotating themed nights. This is the easiest, most relaxed option with children in tow, especially for breakfast.
- Little Miss India — An Indian restaurant with a colonial-mansion theme, running through tandoori and curry-house classics alongside regional dishes. Geared toward dinner rather than breakfast, and a good change of pace if you're staying a few nights.
- Seagrill Bistro — Mediterranean cooking with a focus on fresh seafood, in a more relaxed bistro setting than the resort's showier venues. Works for a lighter family dinner or a lunch that doesn't need booking weeks ahead.
- Grand ZOR — Central Asian cuisine inspired by Uzbekistan's Silk Route heritage, reimagined with a contemporary approach. More of a destination dinner for adults or older children curious about something different from the usual resort menu.
- Mashrabiya Lounge — A lounge with arabesque design and terrace seating over the Gulf, built for afternoon tea, pastries and shisha rather than full meals. A good place to decompress after a beach afternoon while children nap or play.
- Bask Beach Club — The resort's laid-back beach club on Palm West Beach, open all day with a Mediterranean and Japanese-leaning menu, cabanas and a genuinely relaxed, pet-friendly feel. This is where most families end up spending the bulk of a weekend.
Getting there
It's a straightforward drive from anywhere in Dubai, with Dubai Marina only a few kilometres away and Downtown Dubai around 30-40 minutes depending on traffic on the Palm and Sheikh Zayed Road. Dubai International Airport is the nearest airport at roughly 35-45 minutes, valet and self-parking are both available on site, and a transfer is only really worth booking if you're arriving with a lot of luggage or small children in tow.
