DoubleTree by Hilton Resort & Spa Marjan Island
★★★★★Al Marjan Island, Ras Al KhaimahSpecialist pick
Overview
DoubleTree by Hilton Resort & Spa Marjan Island is a large beachfront resort on Al Marjan Island, Ras Al Khaimah's man-made peninsula, with several hundred rooms spread across low-rise wings around gardens and pools. It suits families and groups wanting a straightforward beach weekend rather than a boutique or adults-only feel.
The private beach runs 650 metres and is genuine sand, backed by seven pools (including an indoor one) and a pirate-boat aqua zone that keeps children occupied for hours. Evenings mean the Anchor pub for sport and pub food, Meze or Sanchaya for a proper sit-down dinner, or the rooftop lounge for shisha. It is busy rather than quiet, especially over UAE weekends and school holidays.
Go in knowing this is a workhorse resort rather than a design hotel - rooms are functional, and the site is large enough that some blocks are a fair walk from the lobby and beach. Summer (June to September) pushes most activity indoors or into the pools, so it works best as a winter or shoulder-season weekend when the gardens and beach are properly usable outdoors.

Eating and drinking
- Al Marjan & Bay Club Restaurant — The all-day buffet with international dishes and live cooking stations, covering breakfast, lunch and dinner. Big, relaxed and set up for families, with a children's menu and high chairs on hand.
- Brasserie — French and European dishes in a smarter setting, with a wine list to match. A dinner venue for couples or a family wanting something a step up from the buffet.
- Meze — Turkish and Lebanese grills and mezze, with a terrace looking over the Arabian Gulf and an open kitchen for the theatre of it. Open for dinner most nights and Saturday lunch, closed certain days.
- Sanchaya — Pan-Asian cooking - sushi, sashimi and wok dishes - served on a ninth-floor terrace with Gulf views. A dinner spot that works for a date night away from the kids' buffet.
- Vespa — A family-style Italian restaurant with pasta, pizza and antipasti in a casual setting. Straightforward enough for children, with daily specials for the adults.
- The Anchor (Brew & Grill) — A British-style sports pub with big screens, darts and pool tables alongside pub classics and a wide drinks list. The natural spot for an evening pint while the football's on.
- ShoFee Rooftop Lounge — An Arabian-inspired rooftop bar for cocktails, shisha and sunset views over the island. An adults' evening spot once the children are settled.
Getting there
From Dubai it's roughly a 45-50 minute drive up Emirates Road (E311) towards Ras Al Khaimah, then onto Marjan Island itself - straightforward and mostly motorway. Ras Al Khaimah International Airport is around 30 minutes away, with Dubai International the more likely arrival point for most staycationers. Self-parking is free on-site, so a transfer isn't essential if you're driving yourself, but worth arranging if you're flying in with a lot of luggage or young children.
