Conrad Abu Dhabi Etihad Towers

Overview

Conrad Abu Dhabi Etihad Towers occupies one of the five landmark towers on the capital's West Corniche, with guest floors stacked from the mid-20s up to the 60s. It suits couples wanting a proper city weekend with a beach attached, and works for families too, given a kids club and three pools on site.

The private beach is real sand, on a stretch of over 2,000 square metres, backed by three outdoor pools and a children's pool. Kids club runs daily for ages 4 to 12, so parents can get a couple of hours at the spa or a sundowner at Ray's Bar on the 62nd floor while children are occupied. Service is polished rather than chatty, and the sheer height of the building means it never feels crowded the way beach clubs closer to the water can.

This is a high-rise hotel first and a beach resort second, so if you want sprawling gardens or a big lazy river, look elsewhere. Winter (November to April) is when the beach and pools genuinely work; in July and August you'll spend most of daylight hours indoors or in the pool, with the observation deck and spa filling the gap. Level 45 areas restrict children after 5pm, worth knowing if you're booking an executive room hoping to use the lounge with kids in the evening.

Eating and drinking

  • SUSHISAMBA Abu Dhabi — Japanese, Brazilian and Peruvian fusion across two floors with sea views and a lively atmosphere including DJs and dancers in the evening. More of a night-out dinner than a quiet family meal, though the food itself is approachable for older children.
  • Li Beirut — Lebanese cuisine with a modern twist and sea views, good for a proper sit-down dinner. Works well for a family group happy with mezze-style sharing plates.
  • José by Pizarro — Spanish tapas from chef José Pizarro, sharing plates rather than mains. Better suited to couples or a grown-up dinner than younger children, though the format is casual.
  • Sole — Italian restaurant with homemade pasta and wood-fired pizza, served indoors or alfresco. One of the more family-friendly dinner options on property thanks to the pizza.
  • Nahaam — A casual poolside restaurant offering an international spread; also home to the hotel's well-known weekend brunch. Relaxed enough for children, particularly given the pool-facing setting.
  • Rosewater — The all-day buffet restaurant with live cooking stations covering seafood, steak, Indian curries and Arabian salads, served inside or on the terrace with sea views. This is where breakfast happens and it copes well with families.
  • Ray's Grill — An American steakhouse on the 63rd floor with 360-degree city views. A dinner venue for couples or a special occasion rather than an everyday family stop, given the height and the format.
  • Ray's Bar — Billed as the capital's highest bar, on the 62nd floor, with cocktails, DJ sets and sunset views over the skyline. Adults-only in feel, best for an evening without the children.
  • Observation Deck at 300 — On the 74th floor, this spot does afternoon tea, mocktails and light bites alongside a 360-degree view of the city. Good for an afternoon out with children who'll enjoy the height more than the menu.

Getting there

It's roughly a two-hour drive down from Dubai depending on the crossing you take, and the hotel sits within about ten minutes of the Presidential Palace once you're in Abu Dhabi. Abu Dhabi International Airport is around 30 minutes away, while Dubai International is closer to 1 hour 45 minutes; free parking and valet are available on site, so a transfer only really makes sense if you're not driving yourselves.
